weekend alteration projects

I am slightly tempted to keep this one long as I feel so glam.
Problem is that I would very rarely wear it. If I take it up to
just under my knee, I will rock it day and night. I adopted
this little lady this week for $10 from Savers.

Here is my $12.99 beauty. Again, she is getting a shortening
just to make her more wearable. There are two tabs at the waist
where button used to live. I picked up the below cuties, but now
I am thinking some big vintage babies. Opinions?

altered my new vintage find

I've had so much luck with thrifting vintage dresses lately, that
I almost feel guilty. This one was $7 at Vinnies. At first it reminded
me of a velour dressing gown my mum wore through the 1980s,
but I tried it on and the colour and neckline do me many favours.
I did alter the hemline from a maxi *winces* (sorry Vix) to hit
just under my knee. I will wear her next week to show her off,
and I'll be belting her her like a good hourglass lady always does.

someone else's b'day too

Ziggy and I share a birthday. This year he turned 10-years-old.
Each year, he receives his favourite thing in the world as a gift...
a fresh, juicy roll of toilet paper to destroy.

birthday girl

Yesterday it was my birthday.
I got a cuddle from a pug who came into my workplace.
I got some lovely gifts.
Here are some of them.
I also got some flowers. I'm very lucky.

tuesday bits 'n bobs

I not massively into fancy nails but Zooey Deschanel's rock my world.

My beautiful friend Emily went on a mission for me to nab me a pair
of these flats from US Target, as they don't service Australia.
They were $7.48. Thanks Em, I am thrilled.

Mr Black photo for Miss Claire.

A fabulous horse clock I bought off my friend Dawn.

restyle in cream

The $5.99 thrifted dress I wore a couple of weeks ago.
Vintage '60s shoes I should wear more often.
Tights that are being held together with clear nailpolish. :)
Cardigan half price ($20) from Cotton On.

I think it works with the light colour as well as it did with the dark.

chair fabric chosen

I did a post a few days ago about Heather's dad's special chair we
were having reupholstered. Well, this evening Derek came over to
have a look at the chair and decide on a fabric. The above is what
we settled on. The chair won't be fully this fabric, it will be primarily
brown fabric and the seat of it will be the above pattern.

Below is an example of a chair in the same fabric in Shamrock Furniture.

obsession du jour: vintage linen

I've been thrifting vintage linen for my bed and I have more than
a person ever really needs. I was thinking about using the material
to make a patchwork quilt. Bigger squares as opposed to smaller
squares as I am a lazy daisy. The bears on the bed are 38yo. :D

giving a 45-year-old chair new life

For my beloved's birthday, her mum is paying for a very special chair
to be re-upholstered. We went into Shamrock Furniture in Edithvale
which specialises in '50s, '60s and '70s furniture yesterday to see if
we could start the ball rolling. So very exciting.

This is "the chair". It belonged to Heather's late-father, Don, who
passed away 40 years ago, so it has great sentimental value. It's
now Heather's but is in quite a state of disrepair. The chair was
purchased in the mid-sixties.

Above and below are a couple of examples of the work they do at
Shamrock Furniture. Derek is coming over to look at/quote/pick up
the chair on Tuesday night and we have to have our fabric choice
made by then. Stay tuned to see the end result. I can hardly wait.
