buttonfest 2011

Victorian Button Collectors Club presents
Buttonfest 2011
It’s time for Buttonfest, an annual exhibition and sales day presented by the Victorian Button Collectors Club. Buttonfest is a celebration of all things buttons, providing a unique opportunity to see, buy, collect and marvel at buttons and button paraphernalia from the 19th Century to the present day. For those keen to begin or enhance a collection, many V.B.C.C. members will run market stalls, featuring highly collectable and covetable buttons for sale. You may need one special button for a vintage clothing repair – Buttonfest is the only place to find it. Your up-cycled craft project may require some button enhancement – here’s the best place to look! Buttonfest is a rare opportunity to purchase buttons direct from enthusiastic and informed collectors.

A highlight of Buttonfest will be the antique button displays, featuring a dazzling array
of buttons and related items made from all manner of materials including precious metals,
mother-of-pearl, enamel, tortoiseshell, bakelite, glass, organic materials and early plastics.
Collectors will be on hand to answer general queries and help further your knowledge.

Back by popular demand in 2011 is a chance to make your own vintage button
necklace, as well as fantastic raffles and the Member’s display competition.

Button collecting has become one of the most popular forms of collecting. The Victorian Button Collectors Club has met monthly for nearly 15 years, where now it meets in suburban Burwood. Featured on ABC-TV’s ‘Collectors’, the club has expanded its horizons with recent regional events and exhibitions in Kyneton, Castlemaine, Shepparton, Yarragon and suburban locations.

Saturday October 15th
9am to 3.30pm
