happy news

Hi there lovely ladies. Hope this finds you all well, stylish and happy.
There's a certain few of you I have missed terribly, so if anyone feels
inclined, please add me on Facebook: Louarna Hewlett.

I'm wonderfully refreshed from my blogging break and I return with news.
My partner and I are expecting a little boy in July. We are beyond excited.

Lately, I been having drama in the sartorial department:

A) Australia, your maternity offerings are a disgrace. I left a huge
shopping complex in tears recently as all I could find were jeans (which
I hardly even wear) with huge stretchy waists, and t-shirts with scrunchy
sides to accommodate a growing bump. I'm no jeans and tshirt lady.

B) How on earth does one dress a pregnant (former) hourglass?
I have chunky little legs (that have just got chunkier) and can't/won't
show them off... so it is all about the ribcage. My best feature,
is now my ribcage. Lordy!

xxxx

  5. I have been thinking of you almost everyday and where in the world you disappeared off to! Congrats on little Master Tallulahporkchop!

As for clothes...ugh. Myself, I lived in maxi dresses and chopped the length down to fit my height! String tie waisted trackies from somewhere like Kmart are fab. I lost the desire to be seen in public at a certain stage and was quite happy to lop at home in Kmart trackies.... :( You will also not feel the cold as much so will probably not need a coat to have to try and squish into. So any of your gorgeous cardis will still be fine. Unfortunately I also resorted to maternity jeans for said public appearances, it was horrid. Just remember that its all temporary and you will be back looking fabulous in pencil skirts again very soon!

  7. I KNEW you had disappeared for a reason - and this is the best reason of all! CONGRATS!! Such big news :-)

As for maternity clothes - well there's not much out there I know! My friend is also pregnant and is lamenting the lack of options out there. I've found some 1940's maternity patterns, wrap dresses, on ebay and was thinking of sewing one up for her. I just bought this - not sure how it will work out on an actual pregnant lady but if you're willing to be a guinea-pig....

  10. Oh dear, my sister got a really cute dress from http://www.motherhoodemporium.com.au/ which she says is so flattering for the bump and breast feeding - actually I think it has a breastfeeding top.

I think I'll just hit up ebay for some clothes when it comes to my time, as going to the shops can be very expensive
This seems ok and cheap prices - http://stores.ebay.com.au/purpless-fashion?_rdc=1

    good luck missy!!

  13. Sooooo thrilled for you both!! Have missed your wit and style but am looking forward to Tallulah Porkchop maternity style. I have a 6 year old boy and 2 year old girl and both pregnancies lamented the lack of cool clothes. I learnt that the empire line dress was my best friend (those and Magnum ice-creams) and cute little cardigans added some variety. Good luck!

  23. CONGRATULATIONS! That's incredible news! I'm so happy for you, and so so glad you're back too :)
Don't you bloody dare stress about pregnancy dressing, by the way - you're going to look incredible as always throughout, I'm sure. Why don't you get one of those baby band things, so you can still wear all your skirts without having to shop for hideous mass-produced maternity wear? My old boss had one, and said it was the best thing she's ever bought.

  24. Congrats on the baby!I don't pity you at all though as far as wardrobe. My least favorite thing about being pregnant is what a pain it is to dress fashionably when rocking a baby bump....and if you decide to nurse planning a wardrobe around easy accessibility to your breasts is also not so fun...but its worth it :)
